Water Repelling Plywood
Water repelling plywood is a plywood that has been treated with a water-resistant or hydrophobic coating. This water repelling coating helps to prevent the plywood from absorbing water which can lead to warping, swelling and mould growth. Water repellent plywood is a good choice for use in applications where it will be exposed to moisture, such as roofing, walls and subflooring, before the building envelope is ‘closed’.
At Mill Timber Direct, we currently stock 18mm Paged DryGuard Water Repellent Plywood. DryGuard is a robust structural plywood crafted from resilient Polish Pine and it has a hydrophobic coating that effectively reduces the intake of rainwater. Ordinary plywood will warp in damp or wet conditions, so Dryguard is a perfect, all-weather building material. Dryguard has many benefits, including reducing water absorption for up to 90 days (in average weather conditions), thereby shortening drying periods and minimising setbacks in your construction. This reduction of water absorption also means that you don't need to cover the plywood whilst you are working, which saves on labour, material costs and time. It is also protected against fungal growth in accordance with regulation EN 927-3 which reduces the occurrence of mould, mildew and warping of the wood. Dryguard water repelling plywood is ideal for use in the construction of floors, walls and flat roofs in both permanent and temporary buildings.
