The Management of Adverse Environmental Impact
Premier Forest Products Ltd recognises its responsibilities for the environment and is committed to working towards minimising the environmental impacts of its activities across all areas of potential risk.
The Company accepts that it can only achieve its business objectives if the operational performance of its activities, along with the products and services it supplies, reflects the changing environmental priorities of the society it serves.
As an organisation we will: -
- Monitor and examine our environmental performance and implement continuous improvement;
- Comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice;
- Develop an annual Environmental Action Plan as a tool to implement our policy objectives;
- Use environmentally friendly and energy efficient materials and processes wherever possible;
- Integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions;
- Minimise the impact on sustainability of all site, office and transportation activities;
- Make clients and suppliers aware of this policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable environmental management practices;
- Identify the potential direct and indirect impacts of our activities on biodiversity and take measures to minimise the negative impacts and promote positive actions;
- Ensure that all staff are fully aware of this policy and are committed to implementing and improving it; and
- Review, annually report, and to continually strive to improve our sustainable environmental management performance.
Within the organisation we will: -
- Provide training and encouragement to our employees to ensure they are fully aware of the policy and are committed to implementing and improving it. This will be re-enforced with the development of environmentally responsible behaviour and awareness; and
- Utilise our Environmental Action Plan to control and seek to reduce the environmental impact of our offices, internal resources and business activities.
Sub-contractors will be expected to fully embrace the contents of our policy and to demonstrate their support through their active participation and co-operation. Their performance will be assessed annually to determine their level of commitment to this essential business area.
Employees, contractors and the local community will be consulted on how best we can implement this policy and to suggest ways of continually improving the Company’s environmental performance.
This Policy will be displayed at all our sites and may be distributed to all interested parties.
