Feather Edge Boards & Fencing
Feather edge fence boards are individual wooden slats which are overlapped onto a timber frame to create a full fence.
The treatment which is applied to the fence slats results in either a subtle green or a natural brown finish and provides additional protection and durability.
How are Feather Edge Boards Used?
Feather edge boards are available to buy individually and are fitted onto a timber fence frame. The frame is made up of posts and rails, often with a gravel board at the bottom. The feather edge boards are fitted vertically to the frame. This gives greater flexibility in terms of the size of the fence - if a 1.8m classic featheredge fence panel doesn’t fit, you can use feather edge boards to fit the space you need to be covered.
Feather Edge Boards for Sloping Gardens
Not only can you make the feather edge boards fence as long as you want without having to cut down a panel, you can also fit the boards at different heights to hug sloping ground in your garden.
Easy-to-Repair Fencing
Feather edge board fencing is also easy to repair, since the individual boards or fence slats can be replaced easily.
What do I need to Build a Feather Edge Fence?
Feather edge fencing is constructed using various timber components including the wooden slats themselves, fence posts, gravel boards (kick-plates), fence rails, capping rails, post caps, plus the installation accessories like concrete and nails. Feather Edge FAQs
What Can Feather Edge Be Used For?
Feather edge boards are also known as closeboard fencing. Single boards are placed vertically, and each board overlaps the one beside it. We recommend a 25mm overlap. If the ground is not level, feather edge boards are ideal for creating fences along uneven or sloping terrain.
What Does Feather Edge Mean?
The term "feather edge" with regards to a fence panel refers to the tapered profile of the board. It is thinner on one side and thicker on the other, creating a natural overlapping effect. This creates an aesthetically pleasing finish.
